Hello World,

I have a friend in Ukraine who is currently mixed in the masses; however, she feels that a step like this is in the right direction.

Keeping it short and sweet. I did finals this week and I am rather burnt out!

So remember for those who are bogged up to their calves with essays:

“Procrastination is the thief of time.”- Edward Young

I wish you all the best,

Hello World,

Take a look at this quote:

I never thought it would get this bad. I never thought the reestablishment would take things so far. They’re incinerating culture, the beauty of diversity. The new citizens of our world will be reduced to nothing but numbers, easily interchangeable, easily removable, easily destroyed for disobedience. We have lost our humanity.”

So, i’m still on my Dystopian rampage.

My Politics teacher reminded me of the 1927 movie called Metropolis. Which I find to be one of the creepiest movements towards dystopia. It is based on a world divided into two where we have the thinkers who can’t make anything, and the makers with no vision.

This movie ignited a spiral towards media phenomena directed at providing dystopian horror. Through, V for Vendetta, 1984, and even the Hunger Games.

However, these all refer to socialism as the cause or symptom of dystopia (especially seen in 1984,) and their demise as the vicious circle between political philosophies continue. This is important in the World today because America plays the hegemon. With its influence in the IMF, World Bank, and historical victories. In respect to the world today, America is a thriving country (For some well-earned humour, take a look at this.) So why is America agonizing over the end of the world through dystopia and not a nuclear revolution?

The red button could be pressed at any moment, but no public audience is ready to acknowledge life ending in a heartbeat (and those that do have already built bunkers into mountains.) I believe it is because the world has faith in Utopia. The beginnings of something better.

In our society’s future, I recognize the paradigm of Utopia. Originally adored, then proceeded to be critically analysed. It makes me sad that I can guarantee, we will never see world peace that will last until the end of time; however, I am a fond believer of the Temple of Janus. Throughout, Ancient Rome. Whenever there was an extended time of peace (where there was absolutely no conflict in the entire Empire the doors of the temple of Janus would be closed.

These doors were largely closed during Octavian’s (Augustus’) period as Emperor. Albeit, I like to draw conclusions between Ancient Rome and America, because I believe they carry some similar values. I would like to see a leader such as Augustus (despite his conscriptions during the Second Triumvirate,) to truly live for the people and revive hope within America.

Wow, I can’t believe it is almost time for Finals.

Good Night World,

The 50 Years of Doctor Who

Hello World,

Let’s talk Dr. Who,
Let’s consider this:

“Gallifrey falls no more.” -Dr. Who 50th Anniversary

World politics allows us to delve into the wonders and mysteries such as Dr. Who. A world wide phenomenon that is watched in over 94 countries.

The Doctor’s belief is that it is his duty to save every world since the fall of his own Gallifrey.
So how does a phenomenon such as Dr. Who affect the world?
Through globalization, political messages, and hope for change.
Dr. Who, reintroduces self-determination into society. However, this isn’t the message of this quote.

For those who have seen the episode, you will know that there are many allegories to support the process of time and how it changes society and the concepts of the individual. It also shows uniformity. Furthermore it shows people choosing to make the right decision. So why do people keep making bad decisions?

With respect to Ukraine, it could rely on the socio-economic pulls from both Russia and the EU. But as a people, why do we choose to make bad decisions in a group?

Let’s hope within the next few weeks we see some collaboration or agreement with the Ukranian people and President Yanukovich.

Happy 50th!
